Is EFX2 About to Return Online?

I acted out of curiosity to see if I might get new results by trying to access the efx2.com page. For the past couple of days, I got the Page Not Found message. A few minutes ago I tried again and read the following message:

This is the placeholder for domain efx2.com. If you see this page after uploading site content you probably have not replaced the index.html file.

This page has been automatically generated by Plesk.

Is this a positive sign for Keith and the displaced efx2.com blogging community? Does it mean that we might get our beloved blogs back? Do we dare have hope in being reunited with friends that haven't found us at our alternative blogs, who didn't have other means for us to keep in touch?

It's only a guess but it looks like the domain host has unlocked efx2.com so Keith can retrieve the files and data necessary to begin rebuilding.

Realistically, due to the nature of the problem, I wouldn't get my hopes up too high too soon; it sounds like it may take some time for Keith to get us back online and it's the worst possible time for him to try to deal with all of this.

You might want to check http://www.scottitude.net/efx2info for links to the latest info available and some of the bloggers who have provided it.

We'll all be together sooner or later, I'm sure of it.

I'm still getting this message:

Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at libertine.efx2.com.

But, you know, even if Keith manages to cobble EFX together again, I will blog there, but I will contain to maintain a shadow blog here. As far as I'm concerned, the very best feature a blog hosting site can have is STABILITY -- if the site is down, all the other cool features are totally useless.

Keith is doing the very best he can, I know, but he's just one guy who can only work on it part time.
Blogger, on the other hand, has several paid people who are able to work full time maintaining the site.

I've written quite a body of material that I'd hate to lose, so it will be all archived at Blogger, no matter what other blogging hosts I might choose to use in the future.

We can make a community here. It will take a bit more effort, but it can be done.

Hi guys,
Glad to see the responses.

Scottitude, thanks for the link and info. I'll be sure to head over there right away to see what's happening.

Libertine, I totally understand where you're coming from. I agree. There's a lot I dislike about Blogger, but reliability is probably what attracted the more notorious political bloggers, among others. I lost a rather nice following when Modblog went down two years ago, something I've never really recovered since we moved to efx2. All I've had left are people I met there (Eclectablog, Rhomethyrst and Goodhands) and only one Blogger member than I know (lastonespeaks.blogspot.com).

I had other plans for this blog, but I think that's going to change. I don't know if I want to mirror every post, but I do want to mirror essays and such. I've been thinking since MB days that I ought to copy the stuff of most importance with comments of substance from others and burn it on time-dated disks.

Do you know if Eclec has set up another blog here or elsewhere? He seems to still be missing in action.

I found an email address, but I doubt if it's one he regularly accesses. Anyway, I fired off a message with our links and a brief explanation of what happened.

I'm hoping, if he doesn't log into that account to check his mail, maybe the service for it auto-sent an announcement, or auto-forwarded it to his main address.

I'm here, alive and well and blogless. I don't really know where I'll end up. Most blogsites are blocked by our corporate firewall. I'm hoping Keith gets something set up by this weekend because my wife's gone for 4 days and that would give me time to set something up.

The biggest bite is that I recently lost my harddrive so I don't have a lot of the images from my old blog. Arrrghh...

I REALLY hope I don't lose all my posts. *sigh*

Anyway, keep in touch. I'm not on Keith's email list but I'll watch his new blog. My email address is chrissavage123 at sbcglobal dot net.

Ciao, now.

p.s. Big thanks to Treva who (a) remembered my real name and (b) tracked me down. I really appreciate that you guys were looking out for me. Love you, man :D

It's like I said in the email I just fired your way...

What are friends for?

I guess, you missed my post above this one. It was the latest news I'd found about efx2. Hopefully, you can access efx2blogs.net Keith held onto our content. I'm only guessing that this included images.

I sure hope, you still have originals of the personal photos (garden, wife, etc.,) and not digital ones trapped on the hard drive. If you want any creative help, just say the word. I can make a logo and buttons if that's what you're worried about.

Tracked you thru my stats!

Blog? I'm still on slow dial up.... far north in the woods. Think of you often... close to the stars.
Love and hugs!

Yup! It's me. Treva. Formerly known as "Stargazer."

Been thinking of you, too. I sure do miss ya! Still have the gifts from you...ever treasured reminders of my friend. :)

I checked your site to see if it was still there when I was pruning my links.

I'm stuck on country-fried dial-up now. So I know how you feel. I'm not in Florida anymore, either. I relocated to Texas in Feb. 06.
